Working high up and in all conditions can be dangerous. Taking health and safety procedures seriously is of the highest importance to Swift Roofing.
The roofing team consists of local roofers, all hand-picked by director Mark. They are trained for over five years before they are considered qualified. Training includes site induction, fork lift, scissor lift and cherry picker licences (in both theory and practical elements). Other courses must be undertaken
- Fas safe pass programme every 4 years
- Fas Cscs Built up roofing scheme
- Manual Handling course
- Tool box talk amongst employees every starting week on site
Once trained, the team work of at least two people (buddy system). This system ensures both members of the team can assess a situation in the safest possible way.
The safety net is one of the first pieces of kit to be unpacked at site. As well as
wearing harnesses and lanyards, the roofers have the added security of the net.
Swift Roofing's exemplary safety record has been called 'the best in the business'. Mark adds: "I'm over the top with safety - and why wouldn't I be, with so many members under my responsibility its Priority number one for me all the time from the moment my guys arrive on site in the morning, until the minute the guys leave for their home and family's." |
